April 2004
Hi to all the crew at Goldmans classic Lincolns
Dereck calling from the U.K., felt I had to drop you a line with regards to my recent order for parts to keep my 79 Continental Collectors Series on the road where she belongs.
I have never received such swift courteous service, as that which I received from Goldman Classic Lincolns, it certainly was a refreshing change; Dan’s knowledge of the cars he sells parts for is second to none.
All it took was a couple of e-mails to confirm some minor details and the parts were on there way, five days later they arrived at my workshop in the U.K, I couldn’t believe they arrived so quick, I usually have to wait as long for parts from within the U.K.
Dan seems to go out of his way to locate parts for these classic Lincolns even managing to find a rare factory power CB antenna for my Continental.
I shall certainly be using you again for spares and will recommend anyone with a 60’s or 70’s Lincoln to do the same.
Many thanks for all your help
Dereck

"Hi Dan, I got the lenses today. They got here much faster than I expected. Also thank you for sending them insured, the mail lady brought it right to the door instead of hanging it on the box in a bag like she normally does things.
Thanks for all your help, and I may need your services in the future as I restore the Lincoln."

Here's the switch assembly for my '71 Mark. Take good care of it and let me know the cost. The phone call the other night made all the difference, so it probably serves you to keep that quality of service up. Been a long time since I felt anybody actually wanted my business.
Thanks again,

Hi Dan. sorry to keep pestering you, your job is done with my carburator, the rest is my part, from what you and a friend of mine have told me it sounds like, my final problem is the choke needs adjusting. If you could point me in the direction of what to adjust i can probably adjust it, like i did with the idle. Once i get this rig running on its own, and cranking on its own, ill just bother you for parts and services.... thanks for any direction you can offer
Donovan
Part2:
Thanks Dan.... turned the knob to the richer side a little bit and she fired right up. Drove it about 20 miles last night with no stalling or problems.
Still a little rough running, but its been sitting so long, probably needs a tune up, but before i go thru that, im going to check the points make sure they arent rusted or corroded. was a pleasure to get to drive it with no problems and without "two footing" as i call it (one on each pedal)

From LCOC bulletin board post:
Just wanted everyone to know Dan at Goldman Classics does a really fine job. I recently ordered a six-way seat switch and a piece of side trim from them. Paid through PayPal and had the parts within a couple of days (Fla. to in the boonies, Tx) with shipping through the U.S. Postal Service (now typically much faster than UPS or FED-EX Ground).

I have to tell you...not often do you get service like this. I ordered a fan switch from Goldman a while back and got a fair price for the part. It arrived and even though one has to assume some wear for a 41 year old part, I wanted something in better condition. He offered to have it repaired, as his father is some kind of Thomas Edison type and can fix everything electrical. I intended to have the repair done but after a while, I decided that switch had seen better days and wasn't worth fixing. I emailed Dan and told him that I decided to return the switch and not have it repaired. To my surprise, Dan said no problem...just send it back and I will refund your money...no problems. I did so, and when I checked my paypal account, and I am not sure if this is an error...but everything I paid was there...including shipping. My hat is off to you for your superior service...thank you.

Dan,
Just wanted to say thank you. All switches installed and working properly...with the exception of one rear window that won't go up with the switch, and one window that the master switch won't control. But I am almost 100% certain that those are issues with wiring. It's just a matter of tracing it down.

Hello Dan and Hans
Whow! That is very, very kind of you! Thank you so much for your very expert Answer. We are very grateful for your valuable data and informations. It is not simply to bought a car from distance. We plan to travel to America possibly in April... but that is in two month...... we fear that the Bill Blass is sold up then.
But in the other wise - we have time. We like to completed our Lincoln Collection. And we like to have cars in very good condition.... Sometimes is better to take sufficient time....
We asked the seller the questions you recommended us.
We are very interesst of the answer and pictures from "autocollections". If we have news about "autocollection" - we let you know.
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards from sunny Switzerland.

I will let you know, but otherwise.. Thank You Very Much..I really appreciate you fixing them...I will email you later..Thanks Again

Hi Danny!

Hey Danny, VERY GOOD NEWS back to you, it WORKS!!!!! Thank GOD and Thank you too!! All three windows light up with that essential information very much needed! As a matter of fact the first blinking message was "BRAKE PRESSURE" so I checked the master cylinder and found it to be down a little, so brought it back to normal. Then remembered I had done the same when I first bought the car, checking all fluids, belts, and hoses, etc. before I drove her home, and WITHOUT the benefit of the digital dash. George my auto electrician says the problem is the brake warning light switch located on top of the brake pressure control valve assembly. The local 5 STAR Ford house here has the whole assembly for $250 but says the switch is not available as a separate unit. How many times have we heard that before?? Any chance you have that item available, or just the switch? And is it highly preferable as an NOS part, being part of the brake system? When I get all this shaken down I won't forget to send the core back to you. Do you want the whole cluster or just the display module? Again, many, many thanks, Danny, for all your help! Looks like I can't let you off the hook quite yet, as now I'll sure appreciate your advice on the pressure control valve assembly! Take care Danny, Jim

Hans and Dan,
The power seat switch works fine now. Thanks!
Dan, Now I am looking for some relays for the turn signals.
There are two mounted on the driver’s side engine compartment fender cowl.
One is a 3 wire for the turn signal bulbs themselves, The three wires are
819 –blue
493-orange w/ yellow stripe
494-white
The other is for the turn signal indicator bulbs in the dash, a 4 wire relay. The 4 wires are
817-yellow
818-white w/ black stripe
819 –blue
831-brown
Do you have any of these?

Dan,
Things are going well. The Lincoln fared well last summer, and I'm only doing minor housekeeping except for the radio. I found an AM/FM on Ebay that I'm going to have refurbished and then I'll install with four new speakers.
Thanks for the info on the bulb. Got it changed no problem. And thanks for the new catalog.

GOldman Classic Lincolns wrote: Hello Tim, How are things going? All is well here. Started on a new project ('78 Town Car) here. It's a nice low mileage car with very minimal surface rust. To your question, on the MKIII, there should be a little cover behind the gear selector. That is the housing for the light, open the cover, fish the bulb holder out and change the bulb. Here is the new catalog also by the way! Hope this helps! Dan

Hey Dan, I thought i would give u a list of the questions that i have so u can take a look before we talk on the phone. So here goes! 1) I need the remote mirror actuator that goes in the armrest, the stud in mine is broken, can i get just the stud? 2) if i were to get an AM/FM stero would that work with the wiring in my car? I know i would have to get a face plate that has the opening for the stereo slider, and it appears that i have 2 speakers in the package tray, so i was just wondering as i saw one on Ebay that included the face plate. 3) Do you have any chrome parts, bumpers, grill? Mine are kinda faded. I saw a really nice grill on Ebay, but it sold before i got my car and i did not know i needed it. My front bumper is not too bad, but the rear is pretty faded. Also any door handles? 4) When i took off the Drivers side arm rest i found that it had been broken, also the arm rest is pretty warped. Do you have any of these parts? Have you ever used the Aqua vinyl dye that is sold for mustang applications? Im pretty sure its the same color, as they offer both light and dark Aqua and i have had good results using the SEM products so if i find a good arm rest i would prolly have to recolor them, any thoughts on this? 5) The panel that we talked about that goes the full width of the dash, do you have any decent ones? On mine the chrome that goes all the way around the parimiter is flaking off in a number of places. I have used the chrome vinly that you can get from vinyl sign shops, but getting it to go around the tight corners can be tough. Also how much of the the trim on that panel comes off, like the wood trim, guage faces, or would i have to mask that off to recolor a replacement plate if i find one. 6) Finally im trying to figure out how to diagnose the heat/ A/C system, assuming that i find that the fuse is fine, and the blower motor works when i jumper 12VDC to it, is the next step to just replace the contrrol module u talked about? Again I cant thank you enough for all the help you are providing to me. You are certainly gaining a dedicated customer, but i do know that im taking alot of your time. Hopefully when i start to purchase stuff from you it will be worth it. For all of my other cars i was able to join a Yahoo group, and they were always helpful, but for the Mark there are no groups that i can find. Anyway, take care, and i will try to give you a call when i get back from the store, or if you respond to this email then i wount bother you on the phone, although i do agree that talking on the phone can be alot easier, but i did want to at least give you this list to look over. Hello to all! My name is, Daniel Vazquez from Brooklyn, N.Y. I currently own a 1968 Lincoln Continental with a 462 in motor. I sent my car to Baker's Auto in Conn. The work they did was to my seat motor and power steering pump, some minor work on the eng. and some electric issues. The bill was over $6400.00. when i got the car back, the seat motor stopped working the 2nd time i used it and the power steering pump broke after the 1st drive which was about 17 miles. Not to mention my speedometer wasn't working anymore and the mileage o-meter wasn't working. they did refund my money on the power steering pump, but that was it. I was told that i burned my bridge and not to call for parts any more by the owner, Steve. But, thank goodness i met Dan de Haan of Goldman Classic Lincolns on the net because he was able to tell me over the phone from FL. what was wrong with the pump just from what i told him what had happened. He rebuilt a pump the same day and sent it the day after he received payment and offered to fix the other one that just had broke for an addition fee. Which, was an awesome price. The man knows his stuff and how to do it. call or contact Dan at Goldman's before anyone!!! He will not let you down...he under stands that our cars are like our babies not just a car.

have been taking the trim off , getting ready for paint and found that the chrome work along the bottom of the car has all been screwed on - except fot the ones with the indicator on the front gaurd , they are fine. I think it had enquire in the price list for that . What am i looking at for the trim under the door , the little strip on the door and the stip that goes on the back quarter to the bumper? I could probably have them reproduced pretty close over here if they are really expensive , postage and all that but i thought i would ask anyway. How does postage work anyway ? am i better off grabbing a couple of things at once - especially if they are small items? Been checking out all the other areas on your site mate - loving it !!!! On Sep 1, 2010, at 10:15 PM, GOldman Classic Lincolns wrote:
Good evening Dylan, I left you a message and tried calling a few times. Guess you're busy! I wanted to let you know we've worked on the car since we picked it up, except Saturday (my poor brother in law has not even had time to drive his new car!!) The work performed is on the attached invoice. There are a few things I have done, out of pure "pickyness" since I like to do a GOOD job. Remember how I asked if your gas pedal would get stuck and you told me no. Well I definately could tell that if the pedal was pushed anywhere past half gas it would get stuck and not come off (kind of like a dangerous version of cruise control if you will! Hehe). Well I traced the problem to the linkage that goes down to the transmission, it was binding on the transmission housing so that has now been fixed. Wow, awesome! Thanks! When working on the rear window I found that the inner door handle was broken off and someone had put rivets to somewhat hold it in place. This I replaced with a new handle for you so the thing didn't look all crooked and wobble around. There was a bolt missing in the woodgrain panel on the door also (indicating that the window had been worked on before) so I put a new bolt to hold the back edge of the woodgrain panel in place so it was nice and flush with the armrest (this will avoid breaking the IMPOSSIBLE to find perfect armrest) Again, what can I say but "WOW!"
We did a 3 step polishing job, removed light scratches and put a 2 stage high gloss polish as well as polished the chrome. Completely cleaned the interior and trunk area. Awesome dude thank you so much! Does that include the scratch from the dick who keyed my car?
Mounted the Power Top Motor Valve assembly to the motor (someone had left that loose and it was shaking like crazy when the top was in motion as well as making a lot of noise). Checked Power Top Motor fluid level and adjusted it. Got the turn signal indicators in the dash working, replaced all turn signal bulbs with new ones. Also, the price for the work includes the parts, pushrod for the fuel pump and the window motor that we needed to replace (what a Pain to take out with the window stuck in the down position!!! 5 hours!!!). I also have my dad sending me a new rubber for the bottom of the trunk lid since the one that was on there had previously been repaired and fell apart into 5-6 pieces when we removed the bumper. I can tell by the pictures you sent that you guys really went crazy working on this car. Holy Mackerel! There are 3 notations though: the exhaust leak that you have in the muffler is making the car idle rough. I suggest you get a new muffler at some point (maybe a nice sounding pair of turbo mufflers or so) and the vibration that you thought was the engine mounts is one of the rims must be slightly bent because when the car rolls slowly you can feel it. Should we replace the muffler now? Want to knock it out? What about fixing the rims? do you think that can be done at a tire shop or would a new rim be needed?
And the other thing is that when the windows are up, the front left door is a bit tight to open because the rubber from the rear door overlaps the front (this can be fixed with a window glass adjustment. The rear right window has a gap about 1/2 inch on the top when the top is closed. This can also be adjusted at a later time. should we knock this out now or just do it later? I checked into a possibility to install a factory a/c unit in your car. I THINK IT'S VERY POSSIBLE! AND, I have almost all the parts necessary to do it! If you're interested we can talk about it later. I am SURE you will be VERY Happy with the results!! VERY interested to learn more. So, are we ready to switch cars back or do you need some more time to receive what your father is working on, etc? As you can see, there was a lot more work involved than it first seemed but i'm pretty confident now that the car is fit to drive anywhere. Here are attached the invoice, inspection sheet and some pictures of the progress. Regards, Dan

The bumper arrived fine and has polished up nicely with some steel wool. Thanks.

Thank You Dan, That is totally awesome that you found all the parts that I asked for. You are the best. Is there a number I can reach you at to give you my credit card information for payment? My email isn't secured in that manner. I'll be sure to call you as soon as you get back to me.
Thank You for all your time and energy in finding the parts I asked for.
Tom

Hey Danny, Just wanted to say I received your package yesterday an thank you. I got the transducer installed and got everything working again in heat and Ac. > I'll try tackling the antenna mast this weekend if the rain lets up any. But thank you for your great communication and being so helpful with everything.
