Carburetor Problems
Car will drive well but will not idle.
There are many customers who have the problem where someone rebuilt their carburetor and the car runs really good as long as the throttle is held some. As soon as the throttle is let go, the engine dies. The easiest answer to this is the "dashpot" is wrongly adjusted or not functioning. A lot of times a shop will rebuild the carburetor without having the car there to test it on once the job is done. We cannot blame them for this. We suggest before you call and give an earful to the person who rebuilt your carburetor. Check the adjustment of the dashpot. Adjust to specs or replace and it should work just fine!!
